Payment and Refund Policy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

Scope of the Policy and the Products or Services It Covers

This Payment and Refund Policy applies to all purchases made through the website operated by alertizo. It governs transactions for professional training courses focused on live television production, including modules on studio equipment integration, dynamic camera techniques, acoustic optimization, lighting setups, and reliable production processes for news programs, interviews, and live shows. The policy covers both one-time course purchases and any recurring subscription access to training materials. It does not extend to in-person events or third-party services unless explicitly stated at the time of purchase.

Prices, Currencies, Taxes, and Any Additional Charges

All prices displayed on the site are in British Pounds Sterling (GBP) and include value added tax (VAT) at the prevailing UK rate where applicable. alertizo reserves the right to adjust prices at any time, but changes will not affect orders already confirmed. Additional charges may apply for optional extras such as extended course access or certification materials. Customers outside the United Kingdom may incur import duties or local taxes upon download or access, which remain the responsibility of the purchaser and are not included in the displayed price.

Accepted Payment Methods, Payment Authorisation, and Payment Security

Payments are accepted via major credit and debit cards, PayPal, and bank transfers where offered at checkout. All transactions are authorised in real time through secure payment gateways compliant with PCI DSS standards. alertizo does not store card details on its servers. Authorisation occurs immediately upon submission, and funds are held until the order is confirmed or cancelled. Customers will receive an email notification once payment has been successfully processed.

Order, Booking, or Service Confirmation and When a Contract Is Formed

A contract is formed when alertizo sends a confirmation email following successful payment. This email details the purchased course access, start date if applicable, and terms of use. Until this confirmation is received, no binding agreement exists, and any payment made will be refunded if the order cannot be fulfilled. Access to digital course content is granted only after this confirmation step.

Cancellation Rights and Applicable Cancellation Periods

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, customers in the United Kingdom have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of purchase during which they may cancel without providing a reason. For digital content, this right is lost once the customer begins downloading or streaming the material. Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time, but refunds for unused periods are subject to the eligibility rules below. Cancellations must be requested in writing via the contact methods outlined later in this policy.

Refund Eligibility, Exclusions, and Non-Refundable Items or Services

Refunds are available for cancellations within the 14-day period if no substantial content has been accessed. Exclusions apply to courses where more than 20 percent of the material has been viewed, promotional bundles, and any customised training packages. Non-refundable items include certification fees, physical course notes if dispatched, and access to live webinars once attended. alertizo may offer discretionary refunds in cases of technical issues preventing access, assessed on a case-by-case basis.

The Step-by-Step Procedure and Information Required to Request a Refund

To request a refund, customers should contact alertizo using the details on the Contacts page or by emailing enquiries@salford.ac.uk. The request must include the order number, full name, email address associated with the purchase, and a brief explanation. Requests received within the cooling-off period will be acknowledged within two working days. Incomplete requests may delay processing until all required information is supplied.

Inspection, Approval, Rejection, and Notification of the Refund Decision

Upon receipt of a complete request, alertizo will inspect the account activity to verify eligibility, including checking the extent of content accessed. A decision will be communicated by email within 10 working days. Approved refunds will specify the amount and timeline, while rejected requests will include reasons and any options for appeal or partial credit. Customers may be asked for additional details during this inspection phase.

Refund Method, Processing Time, and When Funds Should Reach the Customer

Refunds are issued using the original payment method wherever possible. Credit card refunds typically appear within 5 to 10 working days, while PayPal refunds process within 3 to 5 working days. Bank transfers may take up to 14 working days depending on the recipient bank. alertizo will notify the customer once the refund has been initiated. Delays beyond these periods should be reported immediately to +44 161 295 0100.

Special Rules for Digital Content, Subscriptions, Services, or Promotional Offers

Digital courses are treated as digital content under UK law, meaning the 14-day cancellation right ends upon commencement of access. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 48 hours before the renewal date. Promotional offers such as discounted first-month access are non-refundable after the initial period if content has been consumed. Partial refunds for unused subscription months are not provided except in cases of proven service failure by alertizo.

Failed Payments, Duplicate Charges, Chargebacks, and Suspected Fraud

In the event of a failed payment, the order will not be processed, and customers will be notified to retry or use an alternative method. Duplicate charges will be investigated and refunded automatically if confirmed. Chargebacks are treated as disputes and may result in suspension of access pending resolution. Suspected fraudulent activity leads to immediate order cancellation and reporting to relevant authorities, with no refund issued until the matter is cleared.

Mandatory Consumer Rights in the Target Country That the Policy Cannot Exclude

This policy operates alongside the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other UK legislation. Nothing in these terms affects statutory rights to refunds for faulty or misdescribed services. Customers retain the right to pursue claims through the courts or alternative dispute resolution schemes if they believe their rights have been infringed. alertizo cannot exclude liability for personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.

Contact Route, Policy Changes, and Last-Updated Date

For questions regarding this policy, please use the contact form on the Contacts page or email enquiries@salford.ac.uk. alertizo may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in law or business practices, with the new version posted on the website. The current version is dated 30 October 2026 and supersedes all previous versions. Continued use of the site after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
